We're underway at Fish & Chat this morning at Sherwood Forest Fishery! 🎣 It's a beautiful day to be by the water, and we've already got lines in and plenty of good conversation flowing. Whether you're here for the fishing, the fresh air, or just a friendly chat, it's great to see everyone together. Here's to a relaxing few hours and, hopefully, a few fish too! 🎣💙

This week looked a little different for some of our young people as we swapped the fishing rods for climbing walls! 🎣🧗 It was brilliant to see everyone stepping outside their comfort zone, encouraging each other and taking on new challenges. Every single one of them gave it their best, and some even made it all the way to the top! Days like these aren't just about fishing – they're about building confidence, resilience and making memories together. We're really proud of every one of you. Well done, lads! 💙💚

📣 NEWARK NEEDS A COMMUNITY FISHING & WELLBEING LAKE 🎣 Mending Lines is growing, but we need a permanent space where we can support more children, young people, adults and families through fishing. A dedicated community lake would give us somewhere safe and accessible to: 🎣 Run community fishing sessions 💚 Support mental health and wellbeing 📚 Provide education and alternative provision 🤝 Bring people together and reduce isolation 🌿 Encourage young people away from antisocial behaviour ♿ Create fishing opportunities that are accessible to everyone We know the difference fishing can make. We see it every week in the confidence, friendships and calm it brings to the people who join us. Please help us show how much Newark needs this by signing and sharing our petition. 🎣 Our very first Fish & Chat 🎣 We held our first adults-only Fish & Chat session at Witham Grange Glamping, and honestly, it was such a lovely day. The atmosphere was calm and relaxed, with some people fishing and others simply enjoying a brew, a chat and some time outdoors. Plenty of fish were caught too, including tench, roach and crucian carp. The feedback we received afterwards made us incredibly proud and reminded us exactly why sessions like this are so important. A huge thank you to everyone involved in the Mending Lines team, Witham Grange Glamping, Beno Baits, Aquastim and Daiwa UK helping us make the day possible. These sessions are supported by The National Lottery Community Fund, which allows us to create more opportunities for adults to get outdoors, connect with others and enjoy fishing in a relaxed setting. Our next adults-only Fish & Chat will be held at Sherwood Forest Fishery on Saturday 25 July. We’ve booked the whole pond, so people are welcome to fish or simply come along for the company.
