Anti-Bullying Policy
We are committed to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment where bullying is not tolerated, taking a therapeutic and restorative approach focused on empathy, accountability and positive change.
What bullying is
Bullying is the repetitive, intentional harming of one person or group by another, where there is an imbalance of power. It can take many forms:
- Physical: punching, kicking, hitting, pushing or other physical harm.
- Verbal: name-calling, taunting, threats, or spreading rumours.
- Emotional/relational: excluding someone, malicious gossip, or manipulating relationships.
- Cyberbullying: using technology to harass or intimidate.
Bullying motivated by prejudice (race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability or SEN) is treated with particular seriousness.
Responding to bullying
When bullying is reported we intervene immediately, report to a senior staff member and the DSL, and conduct a supportive, fair and non-judgemental investigation. Intervention may include restorative practice, individual support for all pupils involved, communication with parents/carers, and proportionate consequences.
Monitoring & review
The Head of Provision keeps a central record of all incidents, analysed regularly to identify patterns. Wider safeguarding risks are escalated in line with the Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy. This policy is reviewed annually and shared with staff, pupils and parents/carers.
